AutoZone's Focus on the Community
 |
| Through hard work and dedication, AutoZone provides a unique culture of customer satisfaction that has made us the number one vehicle solutions provider in the country. That cornerstone of WOW! Customer Service is reflected in our company's service to the community.
Featured below are some of the key agencies supported by AutoZone that help improve our community every day. Besides funding, these agencies are supported by a volunteer team of AutoZoners (AutoZone employees) who unselfishly give of their time and talent. AutoZone's support of these agencies is made possible by the success of our company and the deep commitment to help provide amenities and a better quality of life for all of our citizens.
Our founder, J.R. "Pitt" Hyde III, started AutoZone with a commitment to philanthropy in the Memphis community. This commitment has been richly embedded into AutoZone's culture, and the tradition of giving continues even stronger today.

| Brooks Museum |
 |
With art gracing AutoZone's Store Support Center (SSC) in Memphis, it's no secret that we value art and the importance of it in society and in educating children. In 2001, the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, the oldest and largest fine arts museum in the state of Tennessee, was the recipient of 226 works of art, donated by AutoZone. Now known as the AutoZone Collection, it is the first regional artwork that the museum has received. J.R. "Pitt" Hyde III, AutoZone's founder, began collecting this artwork in 1978. It offers a well-rounded selection of artists and artisans from the Mid-South region.
AutoZone proudly supports the museum as a Community Partner. If you are interested in learning more about the Brooks Museum, or to make a donation, visit www.brooksmuseum.org.

| Children's Museum Of Memphis |

Kids love to pretend to drive, and what better way
to learn about a vehicle than in a fun and friendly atmosphere!
AutoZone has been involved with The Children's Museum of Memphis since its inception in 1990. The AutoZone Garage is an exhibit that continues to be a favorite with the children and adults. The exhibit was renovated in February 2008 by the Governor's Highway Safety Office through a grant. | The Food Bank |
 |
With thousands of Midsoutherners depending on The Food Bank for their meals each year, AutoZone has made raising food, money and awareness for The Food Bank one of its top community priorities.
AutoZone participates in Operation Feed annually, an internal food drive campaign intended to collect the most needed food, and of course money, for The Food Bank. Campaigns have been so successful that AutoZone is a member of the Operation Feed Hall of Fame! During its 2008 Operation Feed campaign, AutoZone earned more than 1.5 million points through food and monetary donations. AutoZone's 2009 Operation Feed campaign will take place in May.
In addition, AutoZone is a proud sponsor of Resurrection Jubilee School through The Food Bank's BackPack Program, which is designed to fight hunger by providing children with nutritious foods to take home over the weekends and extended school breaks when they do not receive free school meals.
The support doesn't end there. AutoZone sponsored, and AutoZoners built, the Pantry at The Food Bank using our store setup expertise. From stocking guidelines to product placement, the Pantry truly functions as a retail outlet.

| Lifeblood |
 |
|
As the need for blood increases in the Midsouth, so does AutoZone's commitment to help Lifeblood. For years now, AutoZoners have remained active Lifeblood donors - they never hesitate to roll up their sleeves for patients in need.
Most recently AutoZone supported the expansion and refurbishment of the Bartlett, Tenn. Lifeblood location. The upgrades to the location not only increased space and facility amenities, it provided a more comfortable atmosphere for donors and staff.
In 2004, the AutoZone Lifeblood Donor Center opened at the University of Memphis. The Center, the first of its kind on any college campus, captures the attention of more than 20,000 students, faculty members and area residents in an effort to help increase local blood collections.
AutoZone donated the first Lifeblood mobile unit in May 2003. The unit travels throughout the community and is used to collect blood for patients in local hospitals. Retired AutoZoner Frank Kinder, a 23-gallon blood donor who retired from AutoZone in Jan. 2007, is featured on the blood mobile as a thank you for his commitment to Lifeblood. AutoZoners honored his commitment to AutoZone and Lifeblood in Jan. 2007 by giving blood and attempting to match Frank's donation of 184 units (23 gallons). AutoZoners exceeded this goal! A total of 196 units were collected, attaining 105 percent or the original goal!

| National Civil Rights Museum |
 |
The National Civil Rights Museum, housed in the Lorraine Motel in Memphis and the assassination site of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is the first of its kind in the country. With a commitment to those who fought for freedom, it houses the country's most comprehensive collection of historic archives and information on the American Civil Rights Movement.
Since the Museum opened in 1991, AutoZone has provided various forms of support. AutoZoners have volunteered to provide technical assistance, retail advice for the gift shop, and has served as a major sponsor of the Museum's Annual Freedom Awards Dinner. In addition, involvement from our top leadership shows our commitment to this organization. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® |
 |
Founded in 1962 by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and 70 countries. Families at St. Jude don't pay for medical treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. If AutoZone can help keep this a reality, what better reason to be involved?
In 2008 AutoZone once again served as a national sponsor of the St. Jude's “Thanks and Giving”® campaign, a fundraising effort that asks consumers to "Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not." Funds raised through the campaign benefit St. Jude and the breakthrough discoveries that lead to lifesaving cures for children in communities everywhere.
In 2009 the AutoZone Liberty Bowl celebrated its 50th anniversary. This partnership brings St. Jude together with a college football tradition. The AutoZone Liberty Bowl Football Classic helps increase awareness of the lifesaving work performed at St. Jude for cancer-stricken children by providing international exposure.

| The Salvation Army |
 |
AutoZone sponsored the Women's Shelter for single women. As a result, the twenty bed lodge is known as the "Zone." The "Zone" is an emergency shelter for homeless single women who stay an average of 15 days. Some of the clients are "chronically homeless" in that they have been in and out of shelters for years due to numerous problems. Others in the "Zone" seek shelter because of job loss, eviction, lack of affordable housing and domestic violence.
A favorite at AutoZone's Store Support Center continues to be the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. This is an annual program designed to give a holiday to children and senior citizens who may not otherwise have one. AutoZoners adopt over 250 angels and provide them with toys, new bikes and clothing.
In 2006, AutoZone committed to help fund the construction of the Memphis-area Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center, a 10,000 sq. ft. facility to be located at the fairgrounds in Memphis. Programs will include education, recreation and the arts. A majority of the funding will be provided by the trust bequeathed to the Salvation Army by the Ray and Joan Kroc Foundation.

Women's Foundation for a Greater Memphis |
 |
Their goal is clear: give women the empowerment needed to achieve and maintain economic self-sufficiency. To accomplish this, the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis (WFGM) provides funding through grants in five key areas: job readiness, career development, non-traditional job training, economic literacy and entrepreneurship.
AutoZone is one of the WFGM’s top five corporate supporters. A portion of our contribution supports the non-traditional training in partnership with the YWCA of Greater Memphis’ Women in Trades program. Women in Trades prepare unemployed and underemployed women in technical skills for the information technology and building trades industries. Jobs available through this program include carpenter’s apprentice and assistant, electrician’s apprentice, general construction laborer, computer tech help desk and technicians in computers, soldering lawn service and maintenance.
