AutoZone's Focus on the Community
Through hard work and dedication, AutoZone provides a unique culture of customer satisfaction that has made us the number one vehicle solutions provider in the country. That cornerstone of WOW! Customer Service is reflected in our company's service to the community.

Featured below are some of the key agencies supported by AutoZone that help improve our community every day. Besides funding, these agencies are supported by a volunteer team of AutoZoners (AutoZone employees) who unselfishly give of their time and talent. AutoZone's support of these agencies is made possible by the success of our company and the deep commitment to help provide amenities and a better quality of life for all of our citizens. Our founder, J.R. "Pitt" Hyde III, started AutoZone with a commitment to philanthropy in the Memphis community. This commitment has been richly embedded into AutoZone's culture, and the tradition of giving continues even stronger today.

ArtsMemphis
Greater Memphis Arts CouncilArtsMemphis, an arts fundraising organization whose mission is raising funds to ensure excellence in the arts and build a vibrant cultural community for everyone, is one of the largest United Arts Fund in the entire country.

In March 2008, AutoZone held a 3-day arts event at its Store Support Center in Memphis, providing AutoZoners a chance to watch arts performances, learn about volunteer opportunities and make a contribution to ArtsMemphis.

Brooks Museum
Memphis Brooks Museum of ArtWith art gracing AutoZone's Store Support Center (SSC) in Memphis, it's no secret that we value art and the importance of it in society and in educating children. In 2001, the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, the oldest and largest fine arts museum in the state of Tennessee, was the recipient of 226 works of art, donated by AutoZone. Now known as the AutoZone Collection, it is the first regional artwork that the museum has received. J.R. "Pitt" Hyde III, AutoZone's founder, began collecting this artwork in 1978. It offers a well-rounded selection of artists and artisans from the Mid-South region.

Memphis Brooks Museum of ArtAutoZone proudly supports different exhibits on display AutoZone is currently the sponsor of Snap Judgments: New Positions in Contemporary African Photography, which runs from March 1 – May 25, 2008.

Children's Museum Of Memphis
The Children's Museum of MemphisKids love to pretend to drive, and what a better way
to learn about a vehicle than in a fun and friendly atmosphere!

The Children's Museum of MemphisAutoZone has been involved with The Children's Museum of Memphis since its inception in 1990. The AutoZone Garage is an exhibit that continues to be a favorite with the children and adults. The exhibit was renovated in February 2008 by the Governor’s Highway Safety Office through a grant. Enhancements include a new van which engages visitors in the importance of child passenger safety and the proper installation of child passenger safety seats.

To help beat Memphis' unbearable heat in the summer of 2006, AutoZone helped the museum secure a new air conditioning/heating system. In April 2007, a team of AutoZoners participated in Hands on Memphis' Servathon. This year, the team's Servathon project was at The Children's Museum, where they cleaned, organized and helped with a lot of "behind the scenes" task.

The Food Bank
The Food BankWith thousands of Mid-Southerners depending on The Food Bank for their meals each year, AutoZone has made raising food, money and awareness for The Food Bank one of its top community priorities..

AutoZone participates in Operation Feed every year, an internal food drive campaign intended to collect the most needed food, and of course money, for The Food Bank. Campaigns have been so successful that AutoZone is a member of the Operation Feed Hall of Fame! During its 2007 Operation Feed campaign, AutoZone earned over 1.9 million points through food and monetary donations. AutoZone’s 2008 Operation Feed campaign will take place in June

Most recently, AutoZone joined The Food Bank in its BackPack Program, which is designed to fight hunger by providing children with nutritious foods to take home over the weekends and extended school breaks when they do not receive free school meals. AutoZone is currently sponsoring the BackPack Program for Resurrection Jubilee School.

The Food BankThe support doesn't end at Operation Feed. AutoZone:

Lifeblood
Lifeblood Mid-South Regional Blood CenterAs the need for blood increases in the Mid-South, so does AutoZone's commitment to help Lifeblood. For years now, AutoZoners have remained active Lifeblood donors - they never hesitate to roll up their sleeves for patients in need. Lifeblood Mobile

AutoZone donated the first Lifeblood mobile unit in May 2003. The unit travels throughout the community and is used to collect blood for patients in local hospitals. Retired AutoZoner Frank Kinder, a 23-gallon blood donor who retired from AutoZone in Jan. 2007, is featured on the blood mobile as a thank you for his commitment to Lifeblood. AutoZoners honored his commitment to AutoZone and Lifeblood in Jan. 2007 by giving blood and attempting to match Frank's donation of 184 units (23 gallons). AutoZoners exceeded this goal! A total of 196 units were collected, attaining 105 percent or the original goal!

AutoZone Lifeblood Donor CenterIn 2004, the AutoZone Lifeblood Donor Center opened at the University of Memphis. The Center, the first of its kind on any college campus, captures the attention of more than 20,000 students, faculty members and area residents in an effort to help increase local blood collections.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®
St. Jude Children's Research HospitalFounded in 1962 by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and 70 countries. Families at St. Jude don't pay for medical treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. If AutoZone can help keep this a reality, what better reason to be involved?

In 2007 AutoZone once again served as a national sponsor of the St. Jude's “Thanks and Giving”® campaign, a fundraising effort that asks consumers to "Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not." Funds raised through the campaign benefit St. Jude and the breakthrough discoveries that lead to life-saving cures for children in communities everywhere.

AutoZone Liberty Bowl

In 2009 the AutoZone Liberty Bowl will celebrate its 50th anniversary. This partnership brings St. Jude together with a college football tradition. The AutoZone Liberty Bowl Football Classic helps increase awareness of the lifesaving work performed at St. Jude for cancer-stricken children by providing international exposure.

The Salvation Army
The Salvation ArmyDuring The Salvation Army's capital campaign to build its new social service facility, the Purdue Center of Hope, AutoZone sponsored the Women's Shelter for single women. As a result, the twenty bed lodge is known as the "Zone." The "Zone" is an emergency shelter for homeless single women who stay an average of 15 days. Some of the clients are "chronically homeless" in that they have been in and out of shelters for years due to numerous problems. Others in the "Zone" seek shelter because of job loss, eviction, lack of affordable housing and domestic violence.

A favorite at AutoZone's Store Support Center continues to be the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. This is an annual program designed to give children and seniors a holiday to children and senior citizens who may not otherwise have one. AutoZoners adopt nearly 300 angels and provide them with toys, new bikes and clothing.

In 2006, AutoZone committed to help fund the construction of the Memphis-area Kroc Center, a service facility that will be highly visible, easily accessible, within reach of various economic groups with particular outreach to lower-income families and will include programs involving education, recreation and the arts. A majority of the funding will be provided by the trust bequeathed to the Salvation Army by the Ray and Joan Kroc Foundation.
