Charitable Giving Guidelines and Eligibility Quiz

The guidelines below outline AutoZone's charitable giving practices. An Eligibility Quiz must be completed to determine if nonprofit organizations are eligible for a contribution from AutoZone. Nonprofit organizations requesting contributions must review the guidelines below and confirm understanding of the guidelines listed below before completing the eligibility quiz.

AutoZone's Charitable Guidelines

AutoZone's charitable program is designed to support 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations through:

  • Financial grants in the Greater Memphis area
  • Financial grants to United Way in AutoZone communities
  • In-kind donations in the form of AutoZone Merchandise Cards in AutoZone communities

501(c)(3) organizations are nonprofit organizations recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt.

AutoZone does not make charitable contributions to the causes and organizations listed below:

  • Individuals
  • Political organizations
  • School advertising (e.g., calendars, posters, yearbooks)
  • General advertising
  • Athletic organizations and teams
  • Family reunions
  • Beauty contests
  • Churches or religious organizations

Request Charitable Contribution

Follow the steps below to submit requests.

  • Confirm you have read and understand AutoZone's Charitable Guidelines.
  • Complete the Eligibility Quiz.

Once an organization is confirmed as eligible, the requestor receives access to the appropriate application form. Complete the form and follow the directions.

Note: The following information is needed to complete the application:

  • Contact information
  • Mission and history of your organization
  • Achievements and goals within the past year, and brief description of your project and amount being requested.

Deadlines for submitting requests are listed below.

Financial Grant - Proposals are due by May 1 of the calendar year for funding consideration during our next fiscal year, which begins on or about September 1.

United Way and In-kind - Proposals are received throughout the year. Approved requests require a minimum of four to six weeks, from receipt of request, for processing.

About AutoZone's Charitable Review Process

  • Grant requests selected for funding or support are acknowledged in writing on or about September 1 of the calendar year.
  • Declination notices are sent prior to September 1 of the calendar year.
  • Contributions are one-time only unless otherwise stated.
  • United Way and in-kind requests are acknowledged in writing, as appropriate.

Important: Due to the large volume of requests received, AutoZone does not respond to requests by telephone or fax.

Tips For Submitting Grant Applications

Please review the tips below before you submit an application.

  • Be aware the application cannot be saved and must be completed in its entirety.
  • Review the application questions.
  • Prepare your answers in a Word (or similar program) prior to completing the application.
  • Spelling and grammar checks are not available in the application program.
  • Forms are pre-set and do not permit use of italics, boldface font and indentation.
  • Most fields (the space where you type in the answers to questions) have a limit of 1,500 characters.
  • Additional documents cannot be attached to the form. These may be requested once AutoZone has begun reviewing applications. Please do not send additional documents or collateral unless requested.
  • If making more than one request, please submit separate applications for each request.
